Spiekeroog-Radar
🇬🇧 Welcome to Spiekeroog-Radar

Spiekeroog’s local politics — transparent and accessible.

Spiekeroog-Radar is an independent, volunteer civic-tech project. It collects public data from the municipal council information system of Spiekeroog — meetings, proposals, decisions — and makes them searchable and understandable.

What you can do as an island resident

  1. See what the council is currently discussing — all proposals and meeting agendas are public. → overview
  2. Attend a public meeting — no invitation needed. All council meetings are public (except the Verwaltungsausschuss, which is closed by law). → dates
  3. Ask a question during the residents’ question time („Einwohnerfragestunde"), typically near the end of the public part of the meeting.
  4. Vote in local elections — all EU citizens with residence on Spiekeroog are eligible to vote for the municipal council.
  5. Sign or initiate a citizens’ petition („Bürgerbegehren") under § 32 of the Niedersächsisches Kommunalverfassungsgesetz (NKomVG).
⚠️ Note: Most meetings are held in German. Meeting documents and proposal texts are in German. You can however translate any page using your browser’s translation feature (Chrome/Edge: right-click → „Translate to English").

What it is NOT

  • Not an official site of the municipality of Spiekeroog
  • Not a replacement for official announcements or meeting minutes
